Local activities

Ry Sports Club

In 2001 Pressalit Group initiated a project called “Ry – an inclusive community” (“Ry – en kommune med brug for alle”) in co-operation with the local authorities in Ry and Ry Sports Club. The objective of this project was to integrate new citizens of foreign ethnic origin as smoothly as possible. Three main fields were highly priorities: Language proficiencies, relations to the labour market and an active leisure time.

Besides being one of the promoters, Pressalit Group has supported the project in several ways, partly during our sponsorship of Ry Sports Club and partly by connecting the so called “new Danes” to the labour market through language classes and employment in our company. However, Ry Sports Club has been in charge of part of the practical work in relation to this project. An example of this could be the huge information campaign about business opportunities in Ry as well as the granting of extra support to children with other ethnic origin than Danish both within and outside the training field. In 2003 the project was awarded the Danish Integration Price. We have always believed in the value of diversity in Pressalit Group, and we are both proud of and feel obligated to contribute to the integration of ethnic minorities in the Danish society.

Ry Rowing Club

Pressalit Group is the main sponsor of Ry Rowing Club - an active club rich in tradition with access to some of the finest water facilities of Denmark. These facilities are often used in connection with local events in Ry, for instance they hosted the national exercise sports festival in 2006 for all rowing and kayak clubs in Denmark. Pressalit Group likes to support social activities as well as interesting experiences in Ry and thus the sponsorship agreement with Ry Rowing Club is of benefit and pleasure to many of our employees.

Ry Family and Company Sports (RFFI)

Pressalit Group is furthermore the main sponsor of another local association, Ry Family and Company Sports. RFFI is an association of individuals and company clubs in and around Ry which purpose it is to promote the interests of conviviality, sport and exercise – all of which are areas of great values to Pressalit Group. Furthermore a great deal of our employees is engaged in the association and all together we are very pleased with our partnership with RFFI.

The Museum Ship Gl. Turisten

In 2003 we entered into an agreement with the Fresh Water Museum of Ry concerning the Museum Ship Gl. Turisten, which sails guided tours from Ry. The more than 80 year old ship was in 2001 declared preservation-worthy by the society for preservation of ships, as the only vessel in the lakes area between Ry and Silkeborg. During the years 2001 – 2004 the ship has gone through a restoration and it was in this period we initiated the co-operation. The 24th of June 2003 Dan Boyter named the ship: “Museumsskibet Gl. Turisten” (the Museum Ship Gl. Turisten).

In Pressalit Group we, as mentioned above, would like to support activities in our local area, and we are very pleased to have taken part in making one of the original intentions with the ship possible – to sail with young students and thereby pass on knowledge about nature around the fresh waters. In 2006 six classes from the local school have been on a trip with Gl. Turisten as part of their schooling. On the trip the students were offered to carry out water and underwater tests as well as learn about fish and birds in and around the lake area. Furthermore the employees and business connection of Pressalit Group enjoy the co-operation, since they on special occasions can take a trip with Gl. Turisten.

Øm Convent Museum

Pressalit Group has sponsored a local exhibition of Denmark’s oldest loo seat, placed at a local convent museum. The latrine seat was found in excavations at Øm Convent Museum in the 1920s and is dated back to the period of 1172-1560, where the monks actually resided at the convent. During the last 80 years the seat has been part of the permanent exhibition at the museum.

As a part of the preservation, the oak plank of which the seat is made has been admitted to the hospital in Aarhus, where experts through the use of a CT-scan have tried to specify the time of origin for the seat. Today, the latrine is back at its place; i.e. the exhibition at Øm Convent, where visitors can take a closer look at it. We find it quite amusing that Denmark’s oldest and newest toilet seat geographically are placed less than 10 kilometres apart.

NRGI Park & Arena (the stadium of Aarhus)

Pressalit Group has contributed financially to the extensive modernization of the stadium in Aarhus, which today appears complete and ultramodern. With its international stadium for athletics and seats for 21.000 visitors NRGI Park hosts many large events within and beyond the world of sports. The audience can for instance spend time in the “Pressalit Care corner”, which is a defined area in the southern part of the stadium with Pressalit Care signboards.

AGF (Danish Football Club located in Aarhus)

We have been closely attached to AGF for several years – for some years as main sponsor of the club, which many fans still associate with Pressalit. Today we “only” have a membership of the business club, which is in favour of many football enthusiasts among Pressalit Groups employees as they occasionally receive tickets for the home matches of AGF.
