The Blueberry Court Fuchu, an assisted living facility and day care center run by Abilities Care-net, Inc., Japan, offers assisted accommodation to elderly residents with physical disabilities and/or mental health problems.
The new-built institution opened in August 2011 and provides individual dwellings, meals and care services for up to 40 residents. Each resident enjoys the privacy of his/her own room en-suite with an individually designated bathroom.
Challenge
To provide suitable toilet and shower room facilities catering to the needs of residents with varying degrees of dependency and a variety of medical conditions
To optimize the usage of the limited floor space available. To identify a suitable and safe replacement for the traditional Japanese bath tub.
Solution
Installation of specialist bathroom products from Pressalit Care to make residents feel safe, secure and comfortable:
- R3146 Support arm, 600 mm, height adjustable
- RT102 Handrail, 600 mm
- RF018 Support arm, 850 mm, fixed height
- RT331 Handrail section, 652 mm
Effect
Residents benefit from individually designated bathrooms in spite of the limited space available. Residents feel perfectly safe in the comfortable shower rooms featuring a sturdy shower rail/grab rail angle combination. By incorporating a horizontal wall track by the toilet, a foldable, vertically adjustable support arm may be easily added or removed to suit the physical ability of the user.
